Siaya Governor On Top Gear In Fighting Joblessness
Fighting Joblessness. In an effort to combat unemployment, the local administration of Siaya and an NGO have partnered to give women and young people more economic power.
The county government will collaborate with Shining Hope for Communities (Shofco) to encourage young people and women to be self-sufficient.
Governor James Orengo of Siaya informed Shofco Chief Executive Kennedy Odede that his administration would collaborate with the organization to implement humanitarian initiatives and work to raise living standards in the area.
The two talked at the opening of a three-story community center built by Shofco in the town of Siaya. The center features a computer lab, community hall, library, tailoring floor, and offices for women and youth programs.

“I’ve observed mothers sewing and young folks studying at the library. As governor, I’m pleased that they are prepared to learn,” Mr. Orengo stated on Tuesday.
Mr. Odede stated that the goal of Shofco is to give women and youth chances, emphasizing the importance of giving these groups a voice in the community.
In Siaya, Shofco is engaged in a number of community initiatives, such as seed distribution, borehole sinking, and water pan restoration.
“Our programs are led by the community, and there are 168,000 members of the Shofco Urban Network in Siaya County.

We were able to concentrate on initiatives that have an impact on everyday people’s lives because of this, Mr. Odede remarked.
Attending the ceremony as well, Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode stated that Shofco is financing numerous university and college students and has been instrumental in addressing the water crisis. Additionally, Shofco constructed a three-story community center in Bondo.
Over 10,000 residents received maize seeds from the NGO last year, and 300 young people were supported to enroll in Tvet institutions.
