Sports: MoE Warns Schools Against Fielding ineligible Players
- Schools were cautioned not to field players who aren’t eligible for Nyanza games.
Concerns have been made by the Ministry of Education regarding the employment of ineligible players in the current Term Two secondary school sports in Nyanza.
Lawrence Karuntimi, the regional director of education, stated that principals will be held accountable for these anomalies.
Football, rugby 7s, handball, basketball 3×3, and netball are among the games offered in Term 2.

According to information that has reached our office, several teams have been found guilty of fielding players from non-secondary schools during the current Term Two secondary school games.
Karuntimi declared, “Any school found guilty of this offense will face consequences.”
According to secretary Hesboniah Okerio, the Nyamira County championships will take place at Kiendege Secondary School from June 18 to June 21.
The Siaya County games will take place at Chianda School on the same dates. Gerald Onyango, the secretary, said that Homa Bay School will host the Homa Bay competition from June 21 to June 23.
According to Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika, the Kisii County championship, which was originally scheduled for June 18–21, has been shifted from Nyachogochogo Secondary to Nduru Boys’ and Nduru Girls’.

“The Nyachogochogo secondary school playground was found to be unplayable due to the recent rains that rocked the region,” Nyantika stated following a thorough pre-visit inspection by a team of sub county secretaries.
“The situation is further aggravated by the unpredictable weather patterns.”
This year’s national ball games will be held at kisii County in the Nyanza region.
The Nyanza region teams have prepared well hopping to trush teams from other regions to lift the National title.
The most competitive fields include soccer, volleyball, rugby, netball and basketball.
