Teachers Service Commission of Kenyenya Sub-County Director Shem Odhiambo has warned secondary school principals not to hand over their role in the management of examination centers to their deputies.
Talking to the Examination Center Manager, Supervisor and Invigilators at Magena, he said that only the Principal has been appointed to manage the centre.
“We do not have a vacancy for the deputy principal at the examination center,” he said.
He said the county has more than 40 high schools run by their own principals and more than 80 Deputy Principals.
Odhiambo was responding to a question posed by a school principal who wanted to know if his deputies would be given chance to remain in the school during the trial period to strengthen administrative services.
The principal in addition said that the area is prone to cold-related illnesses during the short rainy season, asked the director to ensure the school has nurses and ambulances in case of an emergency.
Henry Rotich, the Kenyenya Sub-County deputy commander, assured the principal that adequate security was in place.
He asked teachers to use their administrative skills to handle emergencies like teenage births during exams.
“My office has provided a hotline for emergencies during the trial period,” he said.
Rotich asked parents to become vigilant on people selling fake examination papers.
“We know there are people working to cheat innocent parents with exams, but please report such people to my office for prosecution.”
The Regional Director of Education, George Ouma, thanked all the teachers for posting the desired test results in the 2021 national examination and asked them to maintain the same spirit in the upcoming examinations.
He thanked the KESSHA fraternity led by Chief David Osoro for making his school a peaceful life by engaging in academic and extracurricular activities.
Ouma asked business owners and businesses near the school not to create unnecessary noise during the trial period.
His views were expressed by the Kisii County KUPPET Executive Secretary, Joseph Abincha, who expressed hope that the candidates would submit effective test results.
The Union has warned the candidates to avoid any distractions that may disturb them.
