Power of The Choices We Make
Life is a matter of choices and we cannot speak about life without mentioning the power of the choices we make. We do make choices every moment in every single step.
From the time we wake to the time when we go to bed we make choices. The choices we make have tremendous impacts on our psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical well-being.
We all have choices, we all have to make choices from the available alternatives and we all have to live with the consequences which come them.
What will your choice be like today and how can you that the choices you make are the right ones? Let us look at the power of choices under the following:
1. The Reality of the Freedom to Make Choices;
We all speak about freedom or hear people speak about it. Freedom is for real a complicated term which many of us do not comprehend. God created man and made them moral beings with moral freedom to choose wrongly or right. It was all about them deciding and choose what was best for them.
Adam and Eve had two options; to obey God or Satan. They chose to obey the devil rather than obeying God, the creator of the universe. Man, a perfect being at the beginning and in a perfect environment allowed moral freedom had to choose between good and evil.
You all have the freedom to choose from the options. How do you make your choices? What choices do you make? You can choose to serve God or Satan, to do evil or good, be faithful or unfaithful. The power of choice is bestowed on you.
2. The Choices We Make Have Consequences;
In most cases, there are two options. We take either side; there is no neutral ground. There is no choice without consequences. Some are for better while others for worse.
Each choice has an inevitable impact on your life. The consequences which accompany our choices are directly related to the decision we make.
For example, the decision Daniel made while in Babylon was of great impact on his life and the life of others. He made a deliberate and reasonable decision to follow and serve God of Abraham and Jacob in the whole of his life and consequently, Daniel received special blessings and attention from God. He devoted his daily life to seasons of prayer and devotion.
Meditate on your choices. What consequences accompany your choices? Are they good or bad? It all depends on how you made your choices. Make good choices today and pursue a happy life full of blessings.
3. Our Choices And The Next Generation;
The consequences of the choices we make today will have to carry forward to affect future generations. Our children too will suffer the consequences of our choices.
Our influence to a larger degree goes far much beyond what we can imagine especially to our children.
For instance, the diet we select today will affect our health tomorrow.
4. Our Choice And Chance;
As much as all of us have the power of choice, not all of us are accessible to equal opportunities. Our future possibilities and chances can be limited by some of our choices.
Do all people get affected by the same consequences of their choices? Definitely no. some individuals suffer the impact of other people’s choices. Consider a child who was born in homes where drug abuse and domestic violence is a norm and where high levels of poverty prevail.
To some degree, in one way or the other, we have been in situations that are not a result of our own making but that are of the consequences of other people’s choices.
Summary
There is power in the choices we make. Every choice carries its consequence which will impact your life and the life of the generation to come. Therefore, let us consider carefully how we make decisions in circumstances surrounding us. Our choices define our future.
