Three students from a school in bungoma were rescued from a borehole and rushed to a nearby hospital where they have been hospitalized after falling into a school borehole.
Three students from Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School in Busia have been hospitalized after falling into a school borehole.
The school’s deputy principal madam Elizabeth Ngaji has reported that the three were standing at the top of the borehole before it caved in.
The students were rescued by spirited efforts from teachers and support staff. They were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bulanda near Busia town.
“The students were standing atop of the borehole before it caved in. The were taken to a private hospital in Bulanda, in the neighborhood of Busia town,” Deputy principal informed media team.
Kipchumba Ruto, the Busia Deputy County Commissioner hailed the school administration for the swift response that saw the girls rescued by teachers and the support staff.
“Thanks to the school administration. We are happy that you responded in good time”, Kipchumba Ruto Said.
Mr Ruto went on to urge all schools to maintain high standards of safety in their premises to avoid accidents of this nature.
” Am urging all schools to maintain high level of safety in the institutions to avoid accidents of this nature”, Ruto added.
Our Lady Of Mercy Girls Secondary School is located near Busia Town in Matayos constituency in Busia County and is a public Sub-County Secondary School.
