*TSC Launch New Criteria To Be Used To Appoint School Administrators*
New criteria for locating, choosing, and assigning school administrators, such as principals, deputies, senior teachers, and masters, have been published by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
A complex procedure will now be used to designate principals, vice-principals, and senior masters in secondary schools as well as head teachers, vice-principals, and senior teachers in primary schools.
According to TSC, the Regional Director should coordinate the appointment and deployment of all institutional administrators for primary schools, as well as all institutional administrators for the county, sub-county, and day (secondary) schoolsThe county director for TSC is now required to determine the number of open positions for school administrators in the county. According to the TSC’s requirements on curriculum-based establishment, this must be done (CBE).
The county director, TSC, is required by the new regulations to report the number of open administrative positions in the county. The current openings will thereafter be advertised by TSC central office. Candidates who are qualified and interested must then submit applications online. The central office will do the shortlisting and provide the appropriate counties the lists. The Regional Director will then interview the chosen applicants while working closely with the corresponding county directors. The Regional Director will now be in charge of appointing and deploying qualified individuals.
The host county director (secretary), the host county human resource officer, the regional director (who will serve as chair), and all other county directors from the region will be on the regional selection panel. The county director (chairperson), host sub-county director (secretary), county human resource officer, and all other sub-county directors from the county shall make up the county selection committeeThe Regional Director is solely in charge of choosing, employing, and deploying successful applicants. This must be accomplished in coordination with the relevant county directors. The RD will then send a merit list and copies of appointment letters to the headquarters (addressed to the Secretary TSC).
It is crucial to remember that the Director in charge of staffing will appoint and assign principals of the additional county and national secondary schools at the headquarters
