In this instance, a recognized professional education certificate and equivalent academic credentials are required for any foreign national wishing to register with TSC.
The foreign national also needs a work permission, a letter of authorization from the Ministerial Vetting Committee, and a teacher registration certificate from the training jurisdiction.
Conversely, Kenyans with foreign degrees who wish to register with TSC must submit a professional education certificate that is also recognized by a relevant statutory organization, as well as an academic credential that has been equated and recognized by a relevant entity.
Education for Special Needs
Applicants with a disability must have an entrance grade of C-, and those with a diploma in special needs education must have received a C on the KCSE.
A mean KCSE grade of C+ is necessary for other applicants with a Bachelor of Education, as well as a C+ in any of the following subjects: math, science, biology, English, Kiswahili, KSL, and art.
The candidates also needed to have expertise in a variety of disability areas, such as physical disability, intellectual disability, autism, and visual impairment.
The new bill states that applicants who have completed the ECDE Montessori Curriculum diploma program must have received a C plain or above in the KCSE.
In contrast to the traditional syllabus, the Montessori curriculum places a strong emphasis on developing practical skills and hands-on learning.
