TSC Sends A Crucial Message To All Headteachers And Principals
The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has sent a crucial message to all headteachers and principals across the country urging them to be active in all social media platforms for timely and reliable information.
It has been noted that majority of the heads of institions are not active online and whenever online activities are mentioned in schools they pass to the ICT teachers and cybers for assistance.
On the other hand some teachers have been categorised to be technophobia and are adamant to learn how to make use of readily available online social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, etc, which have been identified as the most convenient platforms for TSC to pass instant information to the teachers.
According to the recent reports, most of the heads of institions are not active participants on the forementioned platforms and rarely get information from the employers until dateline or totally don’t see the information at all missing important information from the commission.
Such teachers are usually called on phone by their TSC sub county or county directors to remind them on what they have not done and how they have to work on the circular and filling of the required data on the dateline day.
The commission’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Nancy Njeri Macharia, during the monthly brief with county and regional directors of education outside the headquarter’s buildings, revealed that the information is reaching the commission very late, and it is giving the Human Resource a hard time to work on the issues concerning teachers welfare, something that leads to delay of updating teachers’ data on the website.
Consequently, she urged the directors to remind the employees under their jurisdiction to always be on the alert, and be active on their WhatsApp groups so that they are aware of what is going on in the commission.
Dr. Macharia further urged the directors to be on the look out to track those heads who are just reluctant to shifting their analog styles to be digitally relevant, so as to realign their minds and move together as a team.
Dr Macharia further noted that the commitment of headteachers to their work will help the commission to meet its expectations easily, and hence timely implementation of its projects.
