TSC To Confirm 26,000 Intern Teachers On Permanent Terms
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will confirm over 26,000 intern teachers on permanent and pensionable terms in the coming days.
According to the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Chairman Ndindi Nyoro, the Kenya Kwanza government will confirm 26,000 intern teachers on permanent and pensionable terms in the 2024/25 Financial Year.
Nyoro revealed that the government through the Teachers Service Commission is set to hire an additional 20,000 intern tutors in the next financial year while speaking in Uasin Gishu County on Sunday.
Nyoro who is also the MP for Kiharu constituency was speaking during a funds drive in aid of AIC Annex church in Kesses Sub County where he was hosted by area MP Julius Ruto.

He asserted that the National Assembly has already set a budget of Sh26.3 billion in this year’s financial year that will factor in the hiring of new interns and confirmation of the current intern teachers on permanent and pensionable employment.
Nyoro said the government was determined to address the shortage of teachers in all public primary and secondary schools in the country with a view to ensure 100 per cent transition of learners.
“The Kenya Kwanza government will confirm all the 26,000 intern teachers as promised by President William RutoWilliam Ruto and also hire an additional 20,000 intern tutors in the next financial year,” assured Nyoro.
He stated that the current regime will not discriminate against any region when it comes to distribution of jobs and development projects based on how they voted in the last general election.

Teacher interns attached to Primary schools receive a monthly stipend of Sh15,000, while those attached to JSS are eligible for a monthly stipend of Sh20,000.
The current TSC policy allows teachers to serve as interns for a maximum period of two years; they are hired on a one-year internship basis, renewable for an additional year.
