TSC Promises to Grant Teachers Transfers on One Condition
TSC CEO Nancy Macharia has said that teachers who applied for transfers to be taken back to their local areas will not be forced to look for swaps.
The CEO said that the Commission will take up the responsibility to look for a suitable replacement for the transferred teacher.
Yesterday some Members of Parliament raised concern saying some applicants had been requested to look for swaps instead of their transfer request being granted.
Education committee vice chair Malulu Injendi asked why TSC was being harsh on teachers by asking some of them to find their own replacements.
While responding to the question Nancy Macharia said it is the commission’s mandate to find a suitable replacement.
Moving forward any teacher who will apply for a transfer will be granted without being asked to look for a swap or a replacement.
First consideration for transfers which will be effected on January will be for those Teachers who were delocalized.
The delocalisation of teachers has been scrapped out after MPs compelled TSC to review the policy.
This means if a teacher has to be transfered by the Commission he or she should be moved to a different school within the zone they work in.
