Teacher Service Commission, TSC to promote more than 45,000 teachers.
TSC has announced that they will promote more than Forty-Five (45,000) thousand teachers from primary to secondary schools due to the rolling out of the new competency-based curriculum (CBC).
TSC has hinted that in the CBC system a lot of education work will shift from primary to secondary hence the need to promote teachers.
The forty-five teachers who are going to be promoted by TSC will be deployed to work in junior secondary schools which will entail grades 7, 8 and 9.
According to the Teachers Service Commission, the promotion will be based on the primary school teachers who have acquired a bachelor’s degree in education and have a KCSE mean grade of at least C+.
TSC has been promoting primary school teachers to secondary schools in the last two years. For instance, in 2019 the Teacher Service Commission promoted 1000 teachers and in 2020 the commission promoted 1000 teachers.
According to the Career Progression Guidelines for teachers (CPG), the promoted teachers start at job grade C2 with a salary scale of 34,955 per month.
TSC further reported that the PTE teachers are deployed competitively and the deployment process shall be fair and non-discriminative.
