Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to recruit additional 5,000 teachers to help curb teacher shortage in schools across the country.
TSC is the only commission in Kenya that is given the mandate to recruit, promote, discipline and remunerate teachers in both primary, secondary and Teacher Training College tutors.
TSC is currently under the leadership of Dr Nancy Macharia who is serving in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Dr Macharia has been working round the clock to ensure that schools are equipped with enough staff to help curb teacher shortage challenges.
The move by the Commission to employ mire teachers has been received as good news to unemployed teachers who are seeking permanent and pensionable TSC jobs.
The 5000 teachers will be deployed in primary schools.
In the recent advertisement, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recruited teachers on both permanent and internship terms.
The commission has also said that some teachers will be employed to fill in positions that were initially advertised but lacked applicants because of one or two reasons.
The teachers will be employed ahead of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) to help curb teacher shortage challenges in schools.
Qualified candidates are therefore urged to organise and gather all the required documents in readiness for application for the advertised vacancies.
In this month of September 2021 the Teacher Service Commission advertised vacancies for promotion teachers as per the career progression guidelines for teachers. The deadline for application was set to be not later than 28th September 2021.
In the same note, TSC also announced the recruitnent of more intern teachers this September for both primary and secondary schools. The advertised intern posts were 1038 for primary schools and 957 for secondary schools making a total of 1995 posts. The deadline for application was scheduled on 27th September 2021.
Applications we’re closed yesterday. Successful candidates will be called for interviews any time from now.
