Two found having sex in church by worshipers who went to worship their creator on Tuesday.
After the shocking incident a group of worshippers who found the couple having sex at the alter have vowed never to set foot in that church.
The incident took place in a church at Kayunga District, Uganda.
The couple, a man 23 years old Catholic believer who is married and his lover Muslim by faith who got divorced recently, were reportedly found pants down by the former husband to the woman who raised the alarm, drawing the attention of nearby residents.
Bugonya LC1 chairman William George Kanda said two were arrested amid condemnation from residents. A headgear belonging to the woman and a T-shirt for the man are being kept at the Local Council’s residence as evidence.
It is reported that the duo accessed the church through the windows since the doors were locked.
Kanda added that following the incident, the culprits were frogmarched to his office by irate residents but he later set them free after filing a promiscuity case against them.
By Thursday, the man had gone into hiding; his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Kanda however said the man must answer to his sins even if he goes into hiding as any case does not rot. Anytime he will show up he will be held accountable.
The faithful, from the Bugonya Church of Uganda, now want church leaders to organise a cleansing ceremony to sanctify the premises.
Church leaders have since urged their flock to fast for an unknown number of days following the incident which they labeled as shocking and sinful.
It is shocking. How could they have thought of doing such a sinful act, adultery, in a holy place? Such deeds must be condemned with the strongest terms possible.
