UDA To Announce Presidential Running Mate Today
The United Democractic Alliance was to announce the DP Ruto’s running-mate yesterday but the even was postponed to later date.
The UDA party has announced that they have reached a decision on who will be William Ruto’s running mate but the eagerly awaited announcement will be made today on Sunday.
DP Ruto’s Director of Communications Hussein Mohamed called an unusual midnight press conference yesterday in which to the expectation of many Kenyans the running mate was to be officially announced. However, the decided to hold Kenyans for a few extra hours.
“The running mate issue was extensively discussed today, we are happy to announce that we have a decision as Kenya Kwanza and the decision has been reached and will be officially communicated to you, to the country tomorrow,” said Mr. Mohamed who later clarified he meant Sunday and not Monday.
As per the official report from Mr. Mohamed Kenya Kwanza Alliance held a series of meetings on Saturday where several issues were discussed other than the one for the running mate.
“The meeting today has agreed on a program on the Bottom Up Economic Forum and the development of charters for the remaining counties,” he said.
The veterans who attended the meeting were Musailia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Speaker Justin Muturi, Amason Kingi, William Kabogo, Alfred Mutua and Moses Kuria all led by William Ruto.
With announced meant to be made yesterday on Saturday rumor has it the exercise never materialized due to last minute jostling which complicated the process.
Names floated for the top position include Tharaka Nithi Senator Kindiki Kithure, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
