Video of Teachers Beating A Student Causes Uproar Online, Take a Look
A video of teachers gaining a student has emerged online causing uproar. In the video two teachers are seen beating up a class eight boy. The primary school pupil is decrying inhumane corporal punishment at the school.
According to the pupil the boy was beaten by his teachers over ‘poor performance.’
The class eight pupil from a school in Siaya county, was filmed giving details on how he was severely beaten by his two teachers for not performing well in his exams.
The teachers had pushed the pupil to attain a pass mark of 400 marks in the opener exam but he did not attain the score. This made the teachers to whip him so hard.
The boy explained that he really tried to preserve the situation but it was just too much for him. He wanted to contain the pressure from his teachers but the whipping became unbearable for him.
Corporal punishment was banned in schools from the year 2001 by the Ministry of Education.
The Corporal punishment is unlawful and is prohibited in the Basic Act of Education 2013.
However, some schools are still adamant because they are whipping students despite it being unlawful and prohibited.
The boy said he was thinking of dropping out of school or end his life because he couldn’t take it anymore. In the video, the boy narrates that he had persevered the beating for the last eleven years but he couldn’t take it anymore.
The boy displayed the marks of the injuries he sustained in the video, the marks are on his back and thighs.
