Why Magoha Wants Incoming Gov’t To Give Him More Time As Cabinet Secretary In MoE
Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Education Prof. George Magoha has called upon incoming government to give him more time to oversee the construction of CBC classrooms.
While CS admitted that the Ministry of Education is in the final stages of developing the competency-based curriculum, it will take time for the next administration to ensure that all classes are completed.
“If there is a small balance because I am not a politician, the goal is that we can complete most of the classrooms of the Central Asian Council during the election, only God knows who will be the president, Prof.
“If allowed, I will lead the way, I will make sure the class is finished, and if I go back on vacation, I will obey because I am working under the orders of others,” he said.
All primary education institutions will be closed for a week starting Tuesday, August 2, ahead of the general election next Tuesday, August 9.
According to CS Magoha on Monday, students will resume school on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
The first group of Grade 7 students will start joining secondary schools in the CBC program in January next year.
About 2.5 million students will go through the curriculum, which is still controversial among education stakeholders who are calling on the government to scrap its implementation.
They claim that the basic structure of the system is missing.
Following the recent clashes between CS Magoha and anti-establishment political organisations, President Uhuru Kenyatta made it clear on CBC Broadcasting that there will be no revisiting of Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1.
The president said that although his term ends in August, the government has put in place structures to contain the spread.
Amid these contradictions, CS Magohan, as head of the Ministry of Education, saw him develop a reputation as a dignified and no-nonsense administrator.
Noting that President Kenyatta recently gave him the freedom to exercise his CS powers without hindrance, he said it is important for leaders who seek his services in the future.
“If anyone wants my services, they must convince me that they will let me go as this president serves me. Si mnaona ninawika na hakuna kitu ina sikke? He said.
The CS told reporters that he enjoyed working in President Kenyatta’s administration because of the freedom his boss gave him.
“I feel free. I have been given the freedom to do my work without hindrance,” he said.
