*Why primary school teachers are suffering in silence*
Most primary school teachers who Upgraded to degree level are suffering silently without anyone to pay heed to their Plea.
As Teachers are excited all over due to promotion or deployment news, there is a section of primary teachers who are suffering in silence.
The Teacher Service Commission has slammed its doors shut on the faces of these teachers. The commission is strict about the minimum qualification grade of C+ and above for any degree holder.
These primary teachers who are suffering in silence managed to undergo P1 training and they passed. After which they enrolled for degree programs in various universities. They did not attain the mean grade of C+ and above in KCSE exams but somehow they managed to climb the academic ladder.
The elephant in the house making them to suffer is the fact that TSC does not consider anything below C+ at form four.
Hence many primary teachers have degrees, but they can not be promoted or deployed because they do not qualify.
Despite some universities like Kenyatta University, Mount Kenya University Nairobi University, among others accepting P1 certificates in some years ago as sufficient for acquiring degree, the degrees attained by these teachers are of no use to them.
They thought that they were adding value to their academic success but TSC have denied them the opportunity to scale high.
If the degrees they acquired through their hard work can not be used to reward them by means of promotion, why did they have to further their studies? Of what use are their degrees?
Lack of Grade C+ in KCSE exams is causing the teachers to suffer in silence.
