Willie Kuria elected as new KESSHA Chairperson.
New KESSHA Chairperson. Willie Kuria was voted as the National Chairperson of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) at the Association’s 47th Annual Conference and Exhibition today, sparking celebrations in Mombasa’s Sheikh Zayed Hall.
Kuria, who also serves as the Principal of Murang’a High School, has been acting since the retirement of his predecessor, Kahi Indimuli, who was the association’s national chairwoman for nearly a decade.
The elections were presided over by William Sugut, Director of Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education, Reuben Nthamburi, and Antonina Lentoijoni from the Teachers Service Commission.
Elias Cheruyoy takes over as National Vice Chairperson, succeeding Bonface Karisa.
Joyce Omondi succeeds Amos Cherono as National Treasurer, while Julius Mutwii takes over as Assistant National Treasurer, a post previously held by Lucy Lukunga. Abdi Noor is the new National Secretary.

Florence Ngarari is the new National Organising Secretary, following Andrew Buop, while Albert Masiolo takes over as Assistant Organising Secretary from Godfery Owori.
Kuria stated in his victory speech that he will continue to advocate for proper school funding as well as the elevation of school administrators.
“We have a huge challenge with promotions; as KESSHA members, we believe we should be at the next level.” We believe we have been delayed far too long and should go to another,” he said.
On school funding, he stated that the association aims to speak with the Education Ministry to investigate ways to improve school funding while also increasing the amount of money supplied to schools.

“Of course there are ways that exist and we are going to give proposals and we hope we shall be in a position to see if funding can be increased,” he told reporters.
