A wedding bus disaster has resulted in at least 10 fatalities and more than 20 injuries.
On Sunday night in Hunter Valley, New South Wales, the bus carrying the passengers overturned on Wine County Drive close to Greta as they were leaving a wedding at a winery.
According to police, they are looking into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
A 58-year-old guy who was the bus driver has been taken into custody.
The visitors were going to Singleton, according to Acting Assistant Commissioner Tracy Chapman of the NSW Police, “probably for their lodging.”
Around 23:30 local time, the bus overturned at a roundabout off of a highway while it was turning.
There may be more fatalities, and 25 passengers were hospitalized.
two of them being flown from the collision, according to Ms. Chapman. People may still be trapped underneath the bus, she continued, and a crane will be dispatched to the area “at some point” to raise the vehicle.
The coach driver was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to Ms. Chapman, who claimed that there was “sufficient information” for police to file charges. He is in custody. Charges against him are pending since he was the driver of a car accident that resulted in fatal injuries. She added that the area had seen significant fog at the time of the collision.
It is “so cruel, so sad, and so unfair for a joyous day in a beautiful place like that to end with such terrible loss of life” Australian Prime Minister said.
At a press conference in Canberra, he remarked, “People hire a bus for weddings in order to keep their guests safe, and that just adds to the unimaginable nature of this tragedy.”
Some of the injured passengers, according to Mr. Albanese, are being treated at John Hunter Hospital, while several have been evacuated to Sydney.
The loss of so many lives, according to NSW Premier Chris Minns, is “nothing short of heartbreaking.” He continued, “The fact that this horrific crash happened on a day that should have been filled with love and happiness only adds to the heartbreak.”
It is truly sad for a day of delight to end in such a devastating loss.
