Two men have been arrested and are awaiting arraignment in a Busia court after allegedly leaking information on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination.
According to Busia County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto, the two shared practical confidential on chemistry, physics and biology in a WhatsApp group.According to him, Mr. Tobias Ouma and Mr. Wycliffe Odhiambo were arrested after raising public alarm.
The two, who are said to be university students, posted exams on “WhatsApp forum for students in Busia”.Ruto said the guidelines published online indicates what test centers should be purchased for the practical test.
“These instructions were given in advance to the test center authorities to guide them in preparing for the secret practical examination,” he said.Mr Ruto has warned parents and candidates in Busia to be wary of people claiming to have examination details.
“We want to let parents and students to know that during this times many will contact them by telling them they have test information. You don’t have to be a victim of this,” he said.
“We treat the examination papers with the utmost confidentiality. No prior information about the examination will be given to candidates and unauthorized persons.”Mr Ruto has warned private testing centers located in Busia County that they will be dealt with if there are any cases related to any test malpractice.
The National Examination Council of Kenya “and other government agencies are working together to ensure that no one is involved in examination malpractice before and during the examination,” he said.
