A commotion was witnessed at Ndurarua Primary School in Kawangware, Dagoretti North today in the morning after police officers fired in the air and lobbed tear gas canisters at vendors protesting the destruction of their make-shift kiosks.
A tear gas canister reportedly went off within the school’s compounds causing a commotion within the institution as pupils and teachers alike scampered for safety.
About twenty Learners students are reported to have lost consciousness following the incident. They were immediately rushed to hospitals in the neighborhood for treatment.
One of the protesters was also shot and injured during the fracas with the demonstrators claiming that they had not been issued with eviction notices.
One of the protesters reportedly said that they had not been given any us notices to remove their make shifts adding that the police just started attacking them and one of the people was shot and injured as a result.
They also accused the police of indiscriminately attacking area residents.
