The freedom and fun associated with life on campus make many youths view the campus as a place to be. However, campus life has its good side and bad side.
While on campus with all the freedom and fun, some things should be at best avoided. Here is a list of what you should avoid while on campus.
1. Drugs and Substance Abuse
Freedom on campus may be misused by some people and tend to engage in that were shielded by their parents.
Campus students may become opportunistic and start engaging themselves in drugs and substance abuse.
Drug and substance abuse on campus should be avoided because many have ruined their lives simply because of drug addiction and drunkenness.
Campus students have spent much of their time in drugs and substance abuse before have recorded poor performance in academics while others have been served with suspension for the campus.
Procrastination is a common phenomenon for all of us. At one time or another we procrastinate but the level of procrastination is highest among university students.
Campus students procrastinate from the payment of school fees, studying for exams, and even doing assignments.
This has happened before and going to happen today and in future. Students are fond of pile assignments only to run helter-skelter at the last minute to make ends meet.
When deadlines approach for submitting assignments and take away examinations and paying school fees, long queues are seen at banking halls, school accountants, photocopying shops and libraries
Well, though in the end, all may go well, procrastination is not something good practice for time wasted will never be recovered.
3. Negative peer pressure
Peer pressure is all over. Negative peer pressure is like cancer on campus. Therefore, you need to be vigilant and live your life.
4. Exam cheating
Exam cheating has become a common occurrence in all levels of learning. They found cheating exams on campus you wi be suspended for some time usually not less than one academic year.
Some students may get discontinued for the premises if they repeat the offence after being warned.
Whatever the punishment, it is clear that your studies will be ruined in one way or the other.
5. Having many partners
Relationships in the campus have even sent some to the grave. Thus you need to be very careful on how to tread while on the campus.
The male students may own many partners just to show off and their female counterparts do it for monetary benefits and other advantages.
Worst of all some do it once they discover that they have contracted STDs and would want to infect more and more.
6. Missing classes
The campus timetable is completely different from the one in high school where all students have the same breaking hours for tea break, lunch break and Games.
Students signing attendance class lists for absent friends is a common norm on the campus.
Nothing that is done has no consequence. Attending classes is important because some concepts are best understood when they are only explained by the lecturer.
Therefore missing classes may affect your academic excellence negatively. Avoid missing classes for your good.
7. Going out alone at night.
Never risk your life walking late on campus alone be it you are a man or female. Use your campus’s safety escort program.
University/College may be full of fun and excitement, but you should never forget to place consistent effort in your studies/for excellence.
Remember to make your decisions wisely.
