Government Orders Immediate Police Officers Mass Transfers for those who have three years and more in One Station.
Police officers who have worked at one station for three years must immediately transfer, per government order.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced on Wednesday that all personnel who have worked in a same police station for more than a year will be relocated with immediate effect.
A maximum of 60 days have been granted to the National Police Service (NPS) to enable the transfers, Kindiki informed the Senate, admonishing officers who refuse to move that their wages will not be paid.
The government has ordered that the income of any officers who continue to resist beyond the initial 60 days or who, for whatever reason, do not transfer to another station, would be stopped. That serious,” the minister of security said.
According to Prof. Kindiki, it has been a while since the rules dictating how long a police officer should work at one station has been followed. He continued by saying that the NPS was informed of the rules two weeks prior.
Meanwhile, he stated that the restriction of a year’s maximum service at a certain duty station will be enforced for officers doing special duties.
Because of the dynamic and demanding nature of the activities they are involved in, Kindiki stated, “for those doing serious operations, normally we move them within one year.”

According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, the hiring procedure for new chief and assistant chief roles has already begun.
The plan to find and interview individuals for the aforementioned jobs is currently in place, the interior minister said during a Wednesday plenary.
He stated that posts will be filled within 90 days for locations where interviews have already been completed.
“The vacancies are a result of natural attrition, dismissal from service for officers after their cases have been resolved by the Courts or Public Service Commission, and there are no appeals pending before the Courts, promotion of the officeholders to higher offices, resignation, and redesignation of the positions,” reads a statement from a public official.
