HELB Announces Ksh500000 Loans 2024 – Qualifications
Nurses seeking further studies, HELB announces Ksh500000 loans to Kenyan nurses seeking to further their studies.
The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) announced that the government, through the agency, was offering loans to Kenyan nurses seeking to further their studies.
The agency mage the announcement on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
Nurses who accept this offer will receive Ksh500,000 toward their tuition costs, according to HELB. This is a great boost especially to students who have school fees challenges.
The sum will be due over the course of five years at a reasonable interest rate of 4%.
The government agency states that the credit, named Advanced Nursing Education Fund, will be available via the HELB portal.
According to HELB, the loans were flexible and reasonably priced. “This is for nurses pursuing advanced and specialized courses in approved training institutions in Kenya,” the statement read.
Conditions for Applying for a Loan
The Ksh500,000 prize requires applicants to provide a copy of their admissions letter from a school that complies with HELB regulations.
The loan is offered to both current nursing students and those who want to enroll in further courses who have already obtained admission letters.
In addition, candidates who are interested must submit a completed application, which is available on the HELB portal.
A copy of the national identity card and three recent paystub copies confirmed by the employer are additional documentation required for qualifying.
In other news, HELB notified undergraduate applicants for first-year funding that the monies had not yet been disbursed.

According to HELB, the loans had already been assigned, and the organization was in the process of releasing the funds.
President William Ruto’s Higher Education Funding (HEF), which was introduced in May 2023, would be used to distribute the loans under the new funding model.
Under HEF, students are grouped into vulnerable, extremely needy, needy or less needy.
