Why KDF Training Camp Will Be Moved To Kerio Valley?
In addition to a permanent military camp, President William Ruto has announced that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) training camp will soon be relocated from Eldoret to the Kerio Valley.
Speaking during an interdenominational prayer session in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county, the head of state said the move is intended to boost the ongoing security operation to eradicate banditry and cattle rustling in the region.
“I pledged to put a stop to the unrest in the Kerio Valley. President Ruto declared, “The recent, irregular attacks are the last gasps of a dying horse.”
Communities in the Kerio Valley will soon witness the fruits of Ruto’s efforts to combat insecurity in the area, he promised.
He served as a reminder to the few criminal groups that were still active in the Kerio Valley that their time was running out.

The chief of defense forces, Samson Ogolla, Inspector-General of Police Japheth Koome, and Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale (Defense) and Kithure Kindiki (Interior) were among the high-ranking security officials who had recently visited the area to assess the operation’s progress, according to the president.
“I want to assure the people of Kerio Valley, from Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot and Samburu to Turkana, that they are going to enjoy peace,” Ruto stated.
He promised to keep his word and added that there would soon be an end to the threat.
Ruto stated that Kithure Kindiki, the interior cabinet secretary, was under strict orders to guarantee that the two sub-counties were operating within the next ninety days.
“I am asking those who are in possession of illegal arms to surrender them to the government or face the consequences,” President Ruto stated.
He asserted that the government would take a brutal approach to lawbreakers and denied that gangs terrorize individuals on behalf of their communities.

“It is regrettable that due to a shortage of space, I have not been able to begin the affordable housing program in this community. President Ruto declared, “Those who have taken government land here ought to give it up as soon as feasible.
He vowed to take tough measures against the vested interests, impunity, and corruption that have hampered the nation’s progress for many years.
