Relief to Kenyans as prices are set to drop starting midnight
Kenyans can now breath a sigh of relief after a major announcement on drop of prices. Electricity consumers can smile as prices are set to reduce starting tonight.
According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity prices for all types of consumers will reduce by at least three shillings per unit.
Alex Wachira the Principal Secretary for energy has attributed the amendments to a significant drop in the foreign exchange adjustment rate.
The secretary said that Foreign exchange adjustment dropped from six shillings per kilowatt hour to three shillings per kilowatt hour owing to a drop in the total foreign currency exchange payments made in last month.
The Principal Secretary Alex Wachira further associated the price changes to a marginal reduction in the Fuel Energy Cost which dropped by nineteen cents.
Prepaid users will see the change starting at midnight, while post-pay users will pay less at the end of February.
