Updated Fuel Prices After EPRA Review
EPRA has today on March 14 announced new fuel prices following the latest monthly review.
Kenyans can now have a sigh of relief after a further reduction in fuel prices. This means that prices of essential commodities will drop.
The energy sector regulator has now reviewed pries for fuel downwards in six consecutive times.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) reduced the price of petrol by Sh7.21 per litre, that of diesel by Sh10 and kerosene by Sh18.68.
This means that in Nairobi, petrol will be retailing at a maximum of Sh193.84 down fromSh199.15 per litre while diesel and kerosene will be retailing at Sh180.38 down from Sh190.38 and Sh170.06 from Sh188.74 respectively.
Following the announcement by Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, EPRA’s April announcement will mean that fuel prices maintain a downward trajectory in 2024.
The last time EPRA increased fuel prices was in October 2023, when petrol retailed at Ksh217.36 per litre, diesel at Ksh205.47 and kerosene at Ksh204.46 per litre in Nairobi.
Since then, the price of fuel together with that of basic commodities has seen a significant reduction which has eased the cost of living.
President William Ruto revealed that the reduction in prices was not a coincidence but a product of policies his administration had instituted.
“I want to tell you that even Petroleum products prices will go down, so relax,” he told Kenyans anxious over pump prices.
The reduction of pump prices is happening at a time when the Kenyan shilling has gained strength against the dollar which is the main currency for international trade.
