Met: Eleven Counties To Receive Heavy Rains For 5 Days
The Kenya Meteorological Department expect heavy rains in eleven countries and dry weather for the other parts of the country from June 23 to June 26.
However, the weather department issued an advice indicating that severe rainfall is likely in specific locations, including the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast.
Counties in these regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet.
Furthermore, heavy rainfall is expected in counties such as Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot at this time.

Residents in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale have also been advised to expect severe rains this weekend and into next week.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country was anticipated to remain dry, with light rains in Nairobi beginning Monday, June 24.
According to Kenya Met boss David Gikungu, the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi will have sunny weather over the weekend.
However, the aforementioned counties will see light showers for the first two days of the coming week, followed by sunny weather.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” according to a section of the alert.

“Strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.”
According to the advice, Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are predicted to remain dry for the next five days. Other countries that would see a similar weather trend include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta.
