Good News To Unemployed Teachers As The State Plans Hire More CBC Teachers.
The government has delivered good news to all employed teachers after announcing plans to hire more CBC teachers.
The Principal Secretary for the implementation of Curriculum reforms at the ministry of education professor Fotuma Chege raised concern over the current number of teachers who may not efficiently handle learners in the competency-based curriculum (CBC).
According to Professor Fotuma, the state is planning to hire more teachers in preparation for the alarming number of learners who will transit to secondary schools in the double intake by 2013.
Speaking at Naivasha Yesterday, Professor Fotuma Chege said that they are working closely with the state agencies to ensure that more teachers are employed to efficiently handle learners in the looming double intake in 2013.
The state has already started the process of expanding schools infrastructure in preparation for the double intake under the competency-based curriculum (CBC).
The 8 billion shillings have been set aside to construct more than 10,000 classrooms ahead of hundred per cent transitions of learners from primary schools to junior secondary schools (CBC) across the country.
Last month, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the ministry of education to work jointly with the National Treasury and Interior ministry to come up with a framework that will be used in the process of construction of the 10,000 extra classes to meet the demands of the shift into the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The Head of State also appealed to the Members of Parliament (MPs) to prioritize the program of setting up the 10,000 classrooms through the national government constituency development fund.
