Teacher commits suicide in his bedroom by hanging self.
In the recent past cases of teachers committing suicides have increased rampantly here in Kenya. According to the statistics, the reason behind this cases increasing rapidly is associated to unresolved mental and psychological issues.
Grief has struck Wikithuki primary school which is located in Kitui County after the senior teacher of the school committed suicide yesterday night at his home.
Jacob Muimi who untill his dead was a senior teacher in Wikithuki primary School is said to have killed himself by hanging self with a rope in his bedroom. The incident happened minutes after he arrived home.
His wife said that the deceased teacher arrived home at his usual time and found them taking their supper. He did not join them for the meal but he excused himself and proceeded to the bedroom.
After excusing himself to go to the bedroom he took a long time. Upon calling him several times he didn’t respond causing some anxiety, the wife said. She went to the bedroom to check what the matter was.
The wife of the deceased spotted his body dangling from the roof of their bedroom, but she could not get hold of the rope because of the body weight.
The teacher hanged himself due to family issues which caused pressure to him as alleged.
Mwingi Kenya National Union for Teachers Executive Secretary Mr Mbutu, following the incident has urged teachers to be vigilant and report to the union any issues for counseling/ guidance.
