The Ministry of education Cabinet Secretary professor George Magoha has has given new directives to curb examination irregularities starting tomorrow.
The Education Ministry has finally broken the silence on the leaking of the KCSE exam in the country.
According to CS Magoha the social media platform such as Telegram have become popular with exam leaks. This is because the application hosts a host of private features, for example the ability to hide the phone number a person is using to chat. One can even delete the whole conversation.
Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha, however, has observed that most of the misconduct reported so far has happened after the paper started.
“To say the test leaked means that the papers were exposed before the container left and we know that’s not true. We came out of that five years ago.” Magoha noted.
According to the report shared by the Ministry of Education, at least 70 cases of malpractices have been reported since the commencement of the KCSE exam, but education CS George Magoha has dismissed them as mere attempts to cheat.
Magoha said that those rogue people are sharing pictures of question papers, taking advantage of the exam container opening time and when it is about to start.
Therefore, in an attempt to stop the copying, the cabinet secretary had now extended the time for opening the examination container.
Effectively, the container will now be opened at 6:30, and not at 6:00 as it was earlier. So the new directives will start from Monday.
