*Nairobi: Man Who Ordered Chicken and Chips For A Woman Charged*
A man who ordered chicken and chips for a woman in city hotel has been charged with failing to pay a hotel bill of Kenya shillings 7,000.
The money was for the food the woman ate and some Johnnie Walker whiskey.
Henri Ochola Midiwo was indicted on Monday before Kibera’s senior principal magistrate, Esther Boke, and denied the charges.
The chargesheet states that on Thursday at Level Sky Lounge Ltd in NextGen Mall in Langata subcounty, Midiwo received the said food items for a total of 7,300 shillings.
He took a nap in the hotel after eating with the woman and woke up later when the hotel staff wanted to shut down their business.
According to the chargesheet, the accused was served chips, chicken, which the woman enjoyed, goat meat at 700, water bottle at 150, Johnnie Walker bottle at 5,000 and soda at 100 at noon and failed to pay the bill.
The man entered the city hotel alone and ordered his food. A woman joined him later and he ordered chicken and chips for her. A boda boda rider also joined time at some point according to the reports.
Police say that after having the meal, the accused fell asleep and they let him sleep till at 4 pm, when the hotel staff woke him up as they wanted to close their business.
It further indicated that the accused, when asked to pay the said bills, failed to do so and was taken to Akila Police Station.
The police report said that the accused was charged and kept in cells till he appeared in court.
In court, the accused pleaded not guilty and urged the court to release him on fair bond terms.
Boke released him on a bond of 200,000 with surety of the same amount.
He also directed that the matter be mentioned on April 25.
