KNUT to meet TSC to Discuss Pay Rise Among Other Issues. See More Details
TSC to meet with teachers union representatives this week so that they can discuss pay rise deal and teacher career progression guidelines.
Knut secretary general said that the union and the Commission will go for a retreat in Naivasha to debate on issues affecting teachers among them teachers’ professional development training, pay rise deal among others.
The meeting is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday evening and will end on Friday. Non monetary CBA for the year 2021-2025 will be discussed and Oyuu said he is hoping that it can be amended so that teachers can receive some extra coins from the agreement.
The Nonmonetary CBA allows promotion of teachers in arid and semi-arid regions. This left teachers from other parts of the without a pay rise for 5 years.
A section of teachers however, have accused Oyuu and other officials of compromising the stand of the union to please the employer. The Kenya National Teachers Pressure Group says Knut no longer has interest in issues affecting teachers, as its officials have teamed up with TSC to oppress teachers.
They further accuse Oyuu of signing non-monetary CBA, and not fighting punitive transfers that saw teachers in the group transferred to far-flung counties.
