Details have emerged of how an unidentified man shot and killed the feuding son outside his home in Buruburu.
Police are looking for the person with the weapon, whose identity has not been released.
The gunman shot and killed Cecilia Mugure, 42, when she arrived home with her 47-year-old husband, Mr. Njoroge Wahome.
According to a report at the Kamukunji Police Station, a couple came home from a local garden inside a bee center in Umoja, but the husband had fallen out and his wife refused to return home. Mugure was injured and his son, Mr. James Muriithi, died from 19 gunshot wounds.
Mr. Wahome then switched his phone and called his cousin, Mr. Karuri Karue, asking him to rush home and take the two to the hospital.
“After being informed, Mr. Karue took them to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where the son was already dead on arrival. He had a bullet wound in the head,” he said.
This also revealed that the mother (Ms Mugure) who was shot in the chin has been admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in a critical condition. Police officers and investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department rushed to the scene. they questioned the couple’s 13-year-old daughter, who said they heard a commotion between her father and mother that lasted more than two hours.
“The girl told the police that her father took her out of the second floor of their place. He started taking whiskey and when the girl asked her father where her mother was, he never answered,” he said.
She then went to her younger brother and informed him that Aisyah could wake up, asking him to find out where his mother was or if she was left behind in the parking lot.
When they went outside, they found their mother covered with a limp Maasai, refusing to cry because she had suffered so much.
Both then agreed that it was important to tell her sister what happened, and the deceased asked the girl to hurry and get her phone, which she had left at home.
“He ran home and when he called back, he heard two shots and saw a man holding a gun. After that, he ran and told his father what he saw,” he said.
After that, the process of bringing them to the hospital began and the body of the deceased was placed in the mortuary of Mama Lucy Hospital in Kayol.
