Graduates Who Pursued The Following Education Courses Not Qualified to Be Registered by TSC
Teachers Service Commission Bans The Following Education courses and Subject Combinations
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) bans over 30 Bachelor of Science and Arts Degree Teaching Courses.
Graduates who pursued the above mentioned degree courses and were hoping to be registered by TSC will now have to look for employment opportunities elsewhere.
According to the Teachers Service Commission this category of teachers will not be registered because the subject combinations are currently not in the curriculum.
These gratuants do not qualify to be registered by TSC irrespective of having undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/ or Enhancement.
TSC has banned these courses because they do provide sufficient subject content and therefore the mastery of the content in two teaching subjects is not adequate as required.
Teachers Service Commission Registration Guidelines for new teachers.
1. Graduates who have undertaken a PGDE with these courses are NOT eligible for registration as teachers.
2. Diploma in Education (PGDE) and two teaching subjects qualify for Registration.
List of Courses Banned by TSC
1. Natural resources
This is a science degree programme that specialize in subjects dealing with issues related with the environment, and natural resources conservation and management.
Students are taught how to create, implement, and maintain sustainable solutions aimed at preservation of natural resources like land, water, energy and forests.
2. Meteorology
This Bachelor’s degree course intend to train experts that can provide current and expected weather and climate information for economic planning to safeguarding life and property.
Meteorology students take classes on Biology, Chemistry, Geography, and learn to analyse winds, air circulation, and forecast the weather.
3. Forestry
Courses in bachelor’s degree in forestry focus on how to plan and protect forest heritage and provide the raw material for the wood industry.
4. Animal husbandry
Graduates are legible to a wide array of job opportunities such as animal caretaker, technician and breeding supervisor among others.
5. Horticulture
This course broadly equips students with effective managerial skills, technical skills and ability to adequately serve the Horticulture industry in Kenya.
6. Farm machinery
Agricultural power machinery paves way several types of careers. Graduates can work in areas like engineering, sales, maintenance, and operations.
