The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) deregisters another set of 44 teachers.
The commission revealed the details of the deregistered teachers in the third week of the months of October 2022.TSC published the names of the teachers who been removed from the register of teachers in Pursuant of section 30 of the TSC Act 2012.
According to the law, a teacher who has been removed from the register cannot engage in teaching in any learning institution in the country whether public or private.
The Teachers Service Commission can intedict a teachers due to the following reasons:
1. Stealing from colleagues or school
This vice is common among the school heads who manages school resources. If TSC finds you guilty of embezzlement of school funds you will face disciplinary action and you might me sacked and arraigned in court of law.
2. Sexual misconduct
Several teachers especially men are allegedly accused of engaging with sexual activities with a student. Those found guilty are sacked and consequently deregistered and removed from register.
3. Drunkenness while at work
Teachers are not limited from taking alcohol by the TSC rules and regulations.
However, teachers are not allowed to drink within the school compound which will reduce their work efficiency.
Alcoholic teachers are summoned before dismissal from duty.
4. Physical Fight, Student assault or assaulting a member of staff
Teachers are role models to students and the community at large. Therefore, engaging in physical fight destroys the image of the school. If a teacher or teachers engage in fighting they will lose their jobs.
5. Racial discrimination
One role of education institutions is to create national unity and equality among teachers and students. Any form of racial discrimination is against the TSC code of conduct.
Discrimination during employment or within the school, if reported, the teacher is first summoned before the county education committee forwards the case to TSC which may lead to being dismissed.
