DP’s Reaction After He Was Denied Opportunity To Speak Yesterday
William Samoei Ruto, Deputy President, has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta after he denied him a chance to address the nation during madaraka day celebrations yesterday which was held at Uhuru garden, Nairobi.
The Deputy President was not invited to address Kenyans at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi during the Madaraka Day celebrations as it has been the culture. Normally, the Deputy President addresses the nation first before inviting the President.
The county governor normally invites the DP as per the norms, to make his remarks at public events and then proceeds to invite the President to deliver the keynote speech.
But during the celebrations yesterday, President Kenyatta took over the proceedings after the entertainment and invited his counterpart only, Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, to address the public.
Additionally, his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta did not acknowledge the presence of the deputy president when he acknowled the VIP guests in attendance.
President Uhuru Kenyatta began his speech by recognizing the following dignitaries, “Your Excellency Julius Maada Bio, the President of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada, the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone , President Dr Akinwumi Adesina African Development Bank Group , honourable Speakers, your Ladyship Chief Justice Martha Koome, our entire spectrum, members of the diplomatic, fellow Kenyans…..,”
