Get Ready For Resumption Of Co-curricular Activities; Kericho County To Host Athletics Championship On 18th- 22 and December 2021
The ministry of education has asked schools to get ready for the resumption of co-curricular activities.
Sports activities were suspended in March last year due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the report from the ministry of education quality assurance and standards assistant director Eliud Wambua, the calendar for co-curricular activities for secondary schools is already prepared and is waiting for approval from the Ministry of Education CS professor George Magoha.
Mr Eliud further hinted that a meeting will be held next week with the Kenya colleges team at Machakos Teachers Training College to deliberate further on the co-curricular activities calendar.
Additionally, he said that the ministry of education has already come up with guidelines on the kickoff of sports in both primary schools, secondary schools and colleges.
Some of the guidelines put in place include keeping training sessions short, putting clean masks by participants when not in action and avoiding unnecessary contacts such as handshakes and hugging.
Report has it that primary schools in Mombasa county started their inter-school games last week and are on in Nysli, Kisauni, Jomvu, and Changamwe sub-counties.
Mr Eliud is optimistic that with collaboration with other ministries, the Ministry of Education is going to ensure that the pandemic is no longer going to school and college games once they resume.
The Kenya primary schools sports association has already scheduled da ate and venue for the national primary school’s athletics championship. The championship will ve held on December 18-22 at Kericho County Stadium.
