KNUT push for improved teachers’ pay
Kenya National Union of Teachers yesterday pressed for better pay for primary school headteachers owing to added responsibilities.
Secretary general Collins Oyuu told headteachers yesterday the decision to domicile the Junior Secondary School learners in primary would result in a heavier workload for headteachers hence the need for improved terms of service.
Oyuu said there is a clause in the previous CBA that is not addressed and therefore as a union, we shall be seeking a salary increment in line with terms and conditions of service.
Oyuu who addressed the 18th (Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association Annual Conference demanded the salary review for headteachers be implemented in January.
The union also demanded the Teachers Service Commission effects promotions of teachers who have stagnated in one job group for long as well as promoting those that are serving in acting capacity.
