*Man Accused Of Eating Grave Money Pleads Guilty*
Ondaga Mbuka said he was robbed of 235,000 shillings that was meant to repair the two graves.
Ondaga Mbuka was accused of cheating on a couple who went to a cemetery for the purpose of beautifying the graves of their parents.
Mbuka is accused of committing the crime at the Langata Cemetery in Nairobi on March 11, 2022.
He admitted before the court that he had cheated on Grace Wanjiku and her husband. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
Before the court hearing, it was disclosed that Mbuka disappeared with the cash after he promised the couple that he was in a position to repair the two graves belonging to the woman’s parents and to install granite over it.
Prosecutor Nancy Kerubo told the court that the couple had gone to the cemetery to inspect graves for repairs.
According to court documents, the accused person had to repair two graves at a cost of 247,000 shillings.
The court heard that the accused was refered to the couple by their friend.They then agreed that since the accused person was a granite expert, he would renovate the tombs.
On their first encounter,the couple paid the accused a down payment of one hundred and fifty thousand shillings through mpesa transactions.
On a different day, they wired the remaining money to the accused. After some days had passed, the couple went back to the cemetery to see how the renovation process was going on.
They were shocked to find out that no work had been done at all. They tried contacting the accused but could not be reached. They reported the matter to langata police station. The police tracked down the accused and was arrested.
Today, the Man Accused Of Eating Grave Money (Ondaga Mbuka) pleaded guilty of committing the crime. According to him, he was attacked and robbed the money.
