MoE Releases New Term Dates to make up for lost time
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released new term dates following disruption of reopening of schools due to floods.
MoE has adjusted the half-term dates for basic education institutions due to the delayed reopening of schools this term to make up for the lost time.
The Ministry of Education has changed half term dates from June 20th to 23rd to June 26th to 28th.
This follows disruption of school opening dates due to floods that wreaked havoc across the country in May.
Learners in boarding school will be expected back to school on June 30, 2024. This is according to a memo signed by Basic Education PS Dr Belio Kipsang’ to all County Directors of Education (CDEs).
The CDEs are instructed to communicate the information to all heads of schools in their jurisdictions, who are in turn expected to make the necessary adjustments on planned activities and schedules.
The opening of schools for term two was pushed back for two weeks, and the revised dates are meant to make up for the lost time.
“The change may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules. You are therefore directed to communicate the content of this circular to all Head Teachers and Principals of schools under your jurisdiction,”
Schools were set to reopen on April 29 for the second term but were postponed to May 13, 2024.
