Mystery as CCTV captures flock of sheep on foot round in circles for 12 days straight. Dozens of sheep have been eerily taking walks round in a circle for 12 days straight in northern China’s Inner Mongolia region.
The weird behaviour, captured on surveillance video, suggests the massive flock constantly marching clockwise in a nearly perfect circle on a farm.
A small section of the sheep can be seen watching from a distance the rotation whilst others at instances stand motionless in the centre.
Video of the bizarre scene was tweeted by the Chinese state outlet to People’s Daily, which pronounced the sheep are flawlessly healthful and the cause of the behaviour remains a mystery.
The sheep owner, recognized as Ms. Miao, claimed that at the beginning a few sheep earlier were moving in the circle then the entire flock joined in, Metro reported.
Although there are more sheep pens at the farm, solely the sheep in one of the pens — pen thirteen — have been acting this way.They began behaving in this manner on fourth of this month.
It’s unclear whether at some point the sheep stop to eat or drink.
Some have speculated the sheep’s behaviour could be induced by a bacterial ailment referred to as Listeriosis — also recognized as “circling disease.”
“Initially, affected animals are anorectic, depressed, and disoriented. They may propel themselves into corners, lean towards stationary objects, or circle towards the affected side,” in accordance to the Merck Manual.
Outbreaks normally happen as a result of spoiled or low-quality silage, in accordance to the Merck Manual. In sheep and goats, however, demise usually happens within twenty four to forty eight hours after symptoms are observed.
