Not Again!! Safaricom Confirms Failure Of M-Pesa Services
Safaricom has admitted that they have experienced failure of M-Pesa services including mobile payment service.
The cellular network operator announced in an announcement on Tuesday am that certain PayBill payments had been impacted by a recurrent service interruption.
Some PayBill payments are being impacted by a recurrent service interruption that we are experiencing. “Our technical team is working to resolve the issue. We will notify you as soon as normal services are resumed,” stated Safaricom.
We really regret any inconvenience that may have been experienced. I appreciate your patience.
Beginning on Monday, a few M-Pesa customers complained that they were unable to conduct bank-to-mobile transfers as well as payments to Kenya Power, the country’s electricity supplier.
The teleco later in the evening said the technical issue had been resolved.
“We experienced service intermittency with PayBill payments that resulted in some transactions not being completed on M-PESA. The technical issue has since been resolved and we continue to monitor the services closely,” Safaricom said in a Monday 7:30 PM notice.
However, the service provider claimed to have fixed the problem and restored service.
“We experienced service intermittence with PayBill payments that resulted in some transactions not being completed on M-Pesa,” the telephone company stated in a statement.
“The technical problem has since been fixed, and we are still keeping a careful eye on the services. We sincerely regret any trouble that this interruption may have brought about.”
On January 9, over two weeks ago, M-Pesa experienced a brief outage before resuming operations a few hours later.
