Nyamira County Suspends Over 79 Employees With Fake Certificates
79 employees with fake certificates have been suspended by the country government of Nyamira.
The majority of the suspended workers fall in the departments of health with 24 employees, finance with 9 members and public service with 9 workers.
The academic certificates of the affected workers were found wanting by the audit team which when credentials of about 2821 employees were scrutinized.
Amos Nyaribo, the Nyamira County governor said that the Salaries of the affected employees have been stopped as thorough investigation is launched.
According to Nyaribo the certificates were submitted to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and tertiary institutions for verification.
He reported that KNECKNEC reports showed a lot of malpractices on the certificates that included alteration of mean grades, subject scores, examination centre codes and inappropriate examination index numbers.

“Other anomalies on the certificates are replaced names on other people’s certificates,” he said.
He added that the names of the implicated officers will be submitted to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for investigation and consequent legal action.
Nyamira County Senator Okong’o Omogeni lauded the governor’s action and asked him to crack the whip on other areas in order to deliver satisfactory service delivery to the electoral.
The Senator appealed to Nyamira Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to take their rightful position of correcting or rewarding the governor instead of compromising with him at the expense of the innocent tax payer.

He called for responsible harmonious working relationship among leaders in the county to enable them weed out corruption, which he said is one of the worst economic plagues in the country.
