President Ruto Reduces The Price Sexed Semen to Sh3000 from Sh8,000.
Under President William Ruto’s direction, the price of sexed semen will be reduced from Sh8,000 to less than Sh3,000.
This will allow dairy producers to boost milk production and productivity in the country.
Speaking at Bungoma’s Madaraka Day celebration, he added that various measures have been done to improve genetics and get rid of diseases, obstacles to market access, and feed-water supply limits.
“Key actions include the implementation of a countrywide breed improvement programme in collaboration with the counties and to upgrading of dairy and beef breeds,” he stated.

“I have directed that the cost of sexed semen be brought down from Sh8,000 to under Sh3,000 which will enable dairy farmers to increase the production and productivity of milk.”
According to Ruto, the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre gave farmers 900,000 doses of bull semen in 2023 in an effort to boost output and productivity.
He further informed that 80 goat inseminators had been educated and 48,000 doses of goat semen had been produced by the goat artificial insemination station at the Animal Health and Industry Training Institute Ndomba, Kirinyaga.
According to the President, veterinary services are crucial for maintaining the health of both humans and animals, enhancing animal welfare and productivity, and guaranteeing the production of safe, superior animals, all of which support both domestic and global food security.

“I want our livestock producers to work with confidence knowing that vaccines will be provided in a regular, dependable, and efficient manner. 35 million doses of various animal vaccinations were produced in 2023 by the updated Kenya Veterinary vaccinations Production Institute, the speaker continued.
Concurrently, he declared that a nationwide immunization campaign will be initiated by the government to combat foot-and-mouth disease and end the PPR epidemic.
The goal of this is to improve pest and disease control for livestock. “Under this programme, more than 22 million cattle will be vaccinated against foot and mouth disease, while 50 million goats will be vaccinated through a collaborative nationwide exercise,” Ruto stated.
He continued by saying that county governments would supply human resources and logistical support, while the federal government would supply vaccines and enable immunization.
“1,500 veterinary surgeons and 6000 animal health assistants will provide health and husbandry services to our farmers,” added the president.
