The family of a Grade 3 pupil at AIC Visa Oshwal Primary School in Kabarnet town, Baringo County is in mourning after the pupil met his untimely death on Friday while swimming in Chemorop River.
A nine-year old boy was in the company of his four friends when they left school and went for a swim in the river as others proceeded for inter-school games at the nearby Kaptimbor Primary.
One of the boy’s friends rushed home to notify his parents after realizing that he had drowned.
According to Kapropita Chief Daniel Kimaliny, he was informed of the sad news by a resident and confirmed the incident after rushing to the scene.
“Once I received the call from a resident, I immediately rushed to the scene only to find grieving residents and the body of the young boy lying lifeless on the ground,” Kimaliny said.
The Chief also stated that he notified the police who came at 3pm and assessed the scene, recorded statements and removed the body to the Baringo County Morgue.
Meanwhile, the police have begun investigations regarding the incident.
