A section of students at Litein Boys High School were forced to sleep in the cold after their dormitory and kitchen razed down following students’ rampage.
The fire brigade from the county government of Kericho managed to contain the spread of the fire.
The incident comes barely a week after the school reopened following its temporary closure due to students’ protests.
No casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
It has been reported that the repeated strikes at the institution have been caused by the students’ dissatisfaction with the recent changes in entertainment schedules.
Local leaders have asked the school administration, the county government, alumni and other relevant stakeholders to initiate an investigation to understand the root cause of the unrest and address them.
One teacher and several students have been arrested in connection to the incident.
