Marriage is an institution of higher higher learning over all the other institutions. For this reason marriage should be handled with much dignity, a lot of maturity, sobriety and high level of responsibility.
Like they say, marriage is not a bed of roses but you can make a bed of roses in marriage. For your marriage to last until death do you part or for you to remain happily married you must consider the following facts ( things you need to know) before you get married
1. Do not get married for wrong reasons
If you get married for the wrong reason you will live to regret. Take your time to decide whether to enter into this institution or not. Let no one decide for you. The challenges people face in marriage are many but if you know why you choose to marry in first place you can be sure that you will survive.
2. Love is not everything
Yes I agree that love matters in every relationship but you must remember that for you to remain happily married love alone is not enough. Other things like commitment are needed. Be committed in making it work.
3. You must learn to be selfless
To be selfless here means that you also consider your partner. Whatever you do you must ensure that it will not impact negatively on your partner.
4. Value your partner’s opinion
In everything that you do, do as a couple. Share ideas and opinions for in marriage nothing should be done secretly by one party because at some point your deeds may come into light and may cause a rift between you two.
5. Without children a family is complete
As you plan to marry do not put children first before anything. Yes they make life Worth living but at the same time some may not be lucky to have them. So if you do not have children never frustrate or blame your partner for God is the Giver of children in our lives.
6. There is no turning back
Marriage is an institution that once you join you will be forever in the records. This I mean that even if you separate or divorce we will still remind you that you were once married. Do not joke with marriage because there are no trials here.
7. It is a serious institution
It is serious in the sense that certain skills are needed. It is also serious because each day you learn something especially for the newlyweds. Prepare yourself adequately for the outcome before you join.
8. Respect is paramount
Without respect no marriage can work. Lear to understand your companion and respect him or her as much. Remember respect is a two way traffic.
God saw it good to create a companion for man and so he created and blessed marriage. However, He created one woman for one man, henceforth it is good to get married.
