University life environment is undeniably endowed with good and bad experiences, excitements and disappointments especially for first year students (freshers). The environment in campus is completely new and therefore a call for vigilance as you steps in such a surrounding.

To adjust and acclimate to campus life and embark on your studies, here are five concrete tips for you.
- Be self-motivated
When it comes to university, you are expected to set your goals and pursue them. There are no follow-ups. You are no longer a toddler.
You are always responsible of the decisions you always make. Take a full responsibility in your studies. Plan well and constantly keep a track on assignments and projects so that that you can complete them in time.
- Have a proper tine schedule.
Prioritize in time management. Time management is a paramount skill you require to successfully sail through university education. Try as much as you can to get yourself into the daily study routine. After classes, schedule for other activities such as entertainment, socialization, riding, clubs, sports among others.
- Attend Orientation programs
Some university campuses are extremely large and spacious that can possibly leave you surprised.
Attend all scheduled orientation activities to familiarize yourself with the environment where you are going to be for at least three years.
In addition get a campus map to help you navigate through the campus settings such as classes, cafeterias, lecture halls, faculty offices, playing grounds and entertainment facilities.
- Know the immediate surrounding
Besides exploring the environment within your campus, it is vital to be well equipped with the immediate campus surrounding. Spend some time exploring the city or town center nearest to the area where the campus is located.

Create a budget so as to ensure proper management of your own finance. Without a budget it is extremely difficult to keep a track of your expenditures.
Avoid impulse-buying. You will not strain financially if you properly manage your cash.
- Attend Guidance and counseling tutorials
At some point you may need a counselor in some challenges in your campus life. All universities are well equipped with tutors offering guidance and counseling on a variety of academic skills and life-challenging issues. If you are a victim of circumstances, do not waste time; make arrangement to see them as soon as possible before thing slip off the hands.
- Create a social network
Carefully make as many friends as possible out of the people you meet in the university without ignoring the people back at home. Never disconnect with your family just because you are connecting to new comrades. Avert compromise at all expense.
