Among Kenyans whose SIM cards have been deactivated are top politicians who did not me the registration update deadline which expired October 15, yesterday.
The deadline for updating Sim Registration Details was yesterday. Safaricom, Airtel Kenya and Telkom had set the deadline for SIM card registration.
This morning,Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei complained on social media that his Safaricom line had been switched off. He further suggested that the country should have a vibrant competitor to Safaricom.
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi also lamented after his was deactivated despite being a loyal customer for 25 years.
Reacting to his statement, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo said he was also a victim of the closure.
“I suffered the same fate. It took a while to figure out that my line had been barred,” he added.
Former Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi was another causality .
